**Three optical RS system types** (same framing as the sensors deck): - **Multispectral** — a few broad discrete bands (Landsat, SPOT, IKONOS). - **Thermal** — one or more bands in 3–14 µm (Landsat TIRS, ASTER TIR). - **Hyperspectral** — hundreds of narrow contiguous bands (Hyperion on EO-1, 220 bands).
