• IKONOS was retired in March 2015, but the framing on the slide — “case-by-case natural disasters and land surveillance” — describes the commercial sub-meter tasking model that lives on through its successors:
  • WorldView-1/2/3/4 (DigitalGlobe / Maxar).
  • GeoEye-1 (same operator).
  • Pleiades 1A/1B (Airbus).
  • SkySat (Planet) for 0.5 m daily revisits.
• The “launch one, task it on demand, sell imagery by square km” business model that IKONOS pioneered is now an industry.
